The All Blacks Sevens have been knocked out of the Cape Town Sevens Series in the semi-finals after being handed a big 31-12 defeat at the hands of the USA.
The Kiwi team earlier beat Australia 26-17 to set up the clash but were given a harsh reality check when they fell behind 19-0 by half time in the semi-final in South Africa.
USA's strong first half was capped off by a sensational solo try from Danny Barrett, who bumped off both Vilimoni Koroi and Amanaki Nicole in a 60m run to score.
With the loss, the All Blacks Sevens faced off with hosts South Africa in a rematch from Pool A for 3rd and 4th while Fiji and the Eagles battled it out for the Cup.
The New Zealand side beat the Blitzbokke in the first game 26-21 yesterday thanks to an extra-time game winner from Koroi but came up short this morning 10-5 to finish fourth.
The US felt the same misery, losing the Cup final for a second-straight Series event after Fiji claimed their first title in South Africa since 2005 with a convincing 29-15 win.
