Watch: New Highlanders coach targeting Super Rugby title – 'We can go deep'

February 21, 2018

Aaron Mauger will take charge of his first competitive match against the Blues on Friday.

New Highlanders coach Aaron Mauger is predicting his side will challenge for Super Rugby silverware this season, as he prepares to take on the Blues in Dunedin this weekend.

Mauger, 37, takes the reigns of the Dunedin-based side after the departure of Tony Brown at the end of last season.

Speaking to media today, former All Blacks and Crusaders star Mauger said that he expects the side to keep their high standards under a new coach.

"We're stood on a pretty solid foundation," Mauger said.

"Our expectation is that we perform to our best, and we're prepared for that."

"We believe that if we can control the things that we have control of, we can go deep into the season and have an enjoyable year."
