The 34-year-old left the team in Sydney ahead of their first Bledisloe Test against the Wallabies last month to deal with family matters after it was reported he had allegedly had an affair.

It's uncertain what role Kaino will play for either the All Blacks or his provincial side Auckland, who he made a rare appearance last week in his return to the rugby field starting at No.8.

The All Blacks announce their matchday squad to face the South Africans on Thursday morning.
