Watch: 'Freezing' Wallabies, Tongan Thor hit the pool in Waiheke, as the All Blacks swelter in gruelling Auckland gym session

August 20, 2018

After a gruelling Bledisloe Cup Test in Sydney the Aussies decided to recover with a pool session on Waiheke Island.

The Wallabies have opted to hit the pool for a recovery session on Waiheke Island this morning, with the visitors still trying to adjust to the cold New Zealand weather, after arriving last night.

Even Wallabies prop Taniela Tupou aka the Tongan Thor, found it hard to adjust to the cold, despite being raised in Auckland.

Australia led the first Bledisloe Cup Test in Sydney 6-5 at halftime on Saturday night, but were outclassed in the second spell by the All Blacks who took out the fixture 38-13.

After losing 17 straight at Eden Park, dating back to the early 1990s, coach Michael Cheika is hoping the more relaxed Waiheke surrounds might help his side end that run.

Meanwhile, on the mainland in Auckland, the All Blacks were into their work with a gruelling gym session this morning.

The All Blacks got rid of any lingering soreness from the Sydney Test by getting to work in the weight room.

The inside backs and apparent gym partners pushed one another as the All Blacks celebrated being back on home soil with a session in the weight room.

The All Blacks host the Wallabies in their second Bledisloe Cup fixture at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday night.
