Watch: Eddie Jones avoids calling New Zealand 'All Blacks' after Twickenham defeat

November 11, 2018

The tactic is designed to take away the awe of the All Black name.

England coach Eddie Jones managed to wrong-foot himself in his post match press conference, appearing to avoid calling New Zealand the 'All Blacks' after his side's 16-15 loss at Twickenham.

Fronting media after the loss, Jones began to answer a question, using the term 'All Blacks', before correcting himself.

The outspoken England coach held his hands up after his side's 16-15 loss.

"That's where the All Blacks - not the All Blacks, New Zealand, generally run away from teams..." he said.

Jones isn't the first Australian coach to use the tactic, with Wallabies boss Michael Cheika also doing so in 2017, believing that it would take away from the fear behind facing the All Blacks.
