Watch: Dane Coles takes cheeky jab at Sky TV over European rugby coverage - 'I'm not paying for that'

November 13, 2018

The All Blacks hooker was brutally honest about what he watches at home.

All Blacks hooker Dane Coles has made a cheeky dig at SKY TV during this morning's press conference in Ireland, admitting he refuses to pay extra for one of their channels.

Coles was asked by local media if he watched more European rugby - the Six Nations and Champions Cup in particular - with northern hemisphere rugby becoming stronger.

The hooker said there were two issues with doing that.

"I've got two kids so I need all the sleep I can get," he said.

"Because [my kids] were up early sometimes I used to chuck on the ol' sport but in New Zealand you have to pay for the Rugby Channel and that's where they play all the Six Nations.

"I'm not paying for that."

The bit of honesty got a big laugh from Kiwi media and teammate Ryan Crotty.

Coles added he did watch replays on SKY Sport though.

"Just while the kids are demanding breakfast, I'd flick it on."

Currently, SKY's "starter" pack costs $24.91 per month and it costs an extra $29.90 per month to get access to SKY's sport package.

It then costs an extra $8.81 to unlock the Rugby Channel which the provider says has "Rucks, mauls, scrums and more rucks - it's rugby all day long".
