Wallabies star Israel Folau condemns gay people to 'HELL' in controversial online post

April 4, 2018
Kimberlee Downs wondered if when Folau's contract with the ARU is up, he would consider joining his Auckland-based fiancee Maria Tutaia in NZ.

Wallabies star Israel Folau has once again caused outrage after announcing on social media that gay people are condemned to "HELL".

The Waratahs and Wallabies utility back yesterday posted to his Instagram account that homosexuals were destined for "HELL... Unless they repent of their sins and turn to God".

Folau made the comment in reply to another Instagram user yesterday, which was his 29th birthday.

However, Folau has since deleted the Instagram post.

The controversial comment directed at homosexuals comes six months after Folau tweeted his opposition to Australia's same-sex marriage law, and the national plebiscite that would decide it.

"I love and respect all people for who they are and their opinions. but personally, I will not support gay marriage," Folau tweeted at the time.

Folau is married to Silver Ferns shooter Maria Folau, and is a devout Christian.
