Tom Taylor replaces Cruden in All Blacks squad

Canterbury utility Tom Taylor has been given the nod to replace Aaron Cruden in the All Blacks squad after he paid the price for a late night drinking session before the team's departure to Argentina.

Hurricanes first-five Beauden Barrett is set to take Cruden's place in the starting side against the Pumas in La Plata on Sunday (NZT),  Colin Slade will provide cover on the bench with Taylor as a third-string option.

Taylor earned his three Tests caps last year and played a starring role while on debut in the All Blacks' 27-16 win against the Wallabies in Wellington.

He last donned the black jersey against Japan in November.

Dan Carter will continue, as planned, to make his return from a fractured leg with Canterbury in the ITM Cup with an aim to play against the Wallabies in Brisbane next month.
