'There's heaps of excitement' – Black Ferns buzzing ahead of first Test since World Cup triumph

August 17, 2018

Tomorrow night's clash with the Wallaroos will be the first time that the Black Ferns have played since last year's glory in Belfast.

Having not kicked a ball since lifting last year's Women's World Cup in Belfast, the Black Ferns are itching to take the field in tomorrow night's Test against the Wallaroos in Sydney.

With the women's world champions up first as part of tomorrow night's double header, the Black Ferns are eagerly anticipating their clash with their traditional rivals, with a number of new faces named for their first Test appearances.

Speaking to 1 NEWS at a promotional event in Sydney, lock Charmaine Smith outlined how the side are feeling.

"(We're) really positive," she said.

"It's been almost a year since our World Cup final.

"There's heaps of excitement - we've got eight new caps in our wider squad, a few that are named in the team.

"We're just really excited to put on a good performance tomorrow."
