'Their skills hold up under pressure' - All Blacks similar to Golden State Warriors, says ex-Wallabies skipper

November 10, 2018

Hansen said despite the overwhelming feeling, his men can use it to their advantage.

The All Blacks have found praise from an unlikely adversary, with former Wallabies captain George Gregan comparing Steve Hansen's side to the all-conquering Golden State Warriors.

Having dominated the NBA in recent memory, the Golden State Warriors have marched to three of the past four championships, odds on to do the same again in the 2018/19 season.

However, the most impressive feat of the Warriors' recent dominance comes from their remarkable desire to win, notably coming from 3-2 down to defeat the Houston Rockets to claim last season's Western Conference.

Speaking to Fairfax Media, Gregan noted the similarities between the All Blacks and Golden State.

"There's times when they've had to come from behind to win Test matches but they've got that belief and understanding of what's required and they embrace those moments," he said.

"That's what successful teams do in all sports, when they get into those tight situations there is a real confidence within them that they can get right through it."

"At the moment in basketball there's teams like the Golden State Warriors that find a way to win those those games and they have confidence in each other and their skills hold up under pressure."

The All Blacks will have another chance to prove their worth, taking on England at Twickenham tomorrow morning.
