'That's all in the past' - Sevu Reece making most of second chance with Crusaders

April 4, 2019

The Fijian flyer has been named to start against Brumbies and says he has moved on after losing a contract with Irish club Connacht.

Crusaders rookie wing Sevu Reece has been named to start this weekend against the Brumbies in Christchurch and says he has moved on from his past indiscretions.

The 22-year-old was caught up in controversy in 2018 when he was involved in a domestic violence incident in July.

He was discharged without conviction, was fined $750 and was stood down for one Mitre 10 Cup match for Waikato.

"That's all in the past and all that has been dealt with," said Reece.

"I'm just going to keep working hard."

The Crusaders handed the flyer a lifeline after he lost a contract with Irish club Connacht over the domestic violence incident.

He is making the most of his second chance and admits it is still strange playing for the black and red Canterbury Super Rugby franchise.

"I'm from Hamilton and the only team you think of is the Chiefs.

"Never in my wildest dreams I thought I would be playing for the Crusaders."

In round four against the Chiefs last month, he was named man-of-the-match after performance in the Crusaders' 57-28 win in Christchurch.
