Tasman Makos score fantastic long range try, cement NPC final place after massive upset over Taranaki

October 21, 2017

The Tasman Makos are through to the NPC Premiership final after upsetting Taranaki at home in New Plymouth tonight 30-29 at Yarrow Stadium.

Nothing could seperate the two sides at halftime with the scores level 17-17.

Tasman came up with a brilliant long range try with winger James Lowe busting through a massive gap in Taranaki's defence in the 43rd minute before first-five Mitchell Hunt crossed over the left hand corner to score.

Taranaki had a chance to win the match in the final three minutes but Marty McKenzie's 56 metre penalty kick was off target.

The Makos will now travel to Christchurch next Saturday where they will face Canterbury in the NPC Premiership final.
