January 17, 2018

The playmaker has signed for English club Wasps.

All Blacks and Highlanders first-five Lima Sopoaga has explained his decision to leave New Zealand rugby for English club side Wasps at the end of this season.

Sopoaga, 26, signed a lucrative deal with the English side, saying that the financial security on offer for his young family was a key factor in his decision to leave.

"It played a massive role," Sopoaga said.

"Having my daughter and realising that some things are bigger than rugby now."

"Providing for my family is number one."
