Sir Colin Meads extremely unwell according to reports, but the All Blacks great still 'holding his own'

Sir Colin Meads' battle with pancreatic cancer appears to have taken a turn for the worse, according to his wife, Lady Verna.

The 81-year-old All Blacks great has battled the disease since August 2016, with Lady Verna today telling Fairfax that the All Blacks legend was "holding his own".

She said Sir Colin was extremely unwell.

Lady Verna also stated that he was not being treated at home, nor at Waikato Hospital, reported Fairfax. 

Sir Colin's last public appearance came in June, at the unveiling of his statue in his hometown of Te Kuiti.

In a playing career spanning 18 years, the uncompromising Sir Colin played 55 times for New Zealand, as well as 139 times for King Country.
