Dagg limped from the field during the Crusaders' 22-20 Super Rugby victory over the Reds, with scans later revealing a posterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscal tear to his right knee.
The injury means Dagg will miss nearly two months while he recovers, however the fullback was positive after his operation.
"Operation went well peeps see y'all in 6weeks.. can't wait to get back to work with my @crusadersrugbyteam brothers," Dagg posted.
The injury will see Dagg in a race to be fit for the All Blacks series with the British and Irish Lions later this year.
