All Blacks and Crusaders midfielder Ryan Crotty has reflected on his legacy, announcing his departure to join Japanese club side Kubota Spears from next season.
Crotty, 30, will leave New Zealand having played in 44 Tests for the All Blacks, and over 100 matches for the Crusaders, considered an unsung hero of the game.
Speaking to media today, Crotty was asked about how he wants to be remembered by future generations.
"Just as a good bugger," he said.
"Just as a nice guy. [I] never walked past an autograph, didn't not say hi to someone.
"When I first came into the team, I remember when I was really nervous, the guys were good buggers to me. That's probably something I learned when I first came into the team - now I've been there forever, to be like that with the young guys that come through."
