With 2019 to be the biggest year of his fledgling career, All Blacks and Blues winger Rieko Ioane is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
Likely to take the number 11 jersey for the All Blacks as they bid for a third straight Rugby World Cup title in Japan later this year, 21-year old Ioane will also find himself as a key figure in the Blues' Super Rugby campaign, as the Auckland side aim for a first title since 2003.
Speaking to 1 NEWS earlier today though, Ioane said that he's not getting carried away with what's on the horizon.
"Firstly, I've just got to realise that it is a World Cup year, we can't escape that," Ioane began.
"But I think, at the forefront of everyone's mind will be Super Rugby, doing your best for the club, best for the team.
"[I'll] approach it how I'd approach any other sort of game, taking it game by game, keeping it real.
"Everyone's game's going to lift, you've just got to hope that you keep up, if not exceed expectations.
"It's going to be a big one."
Ioane will first be in action when Super Rugby kicks off on February 16, as the Blues host the Crusaders at Eden Park.
