'No' – All Blacks coach Steve Hansen shuts down media, refuses to spill secrets of foundation day

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen was keeping his cards close to his chest when discussing what was happening at today’s national team get-together in Wellington.

More than 40 World Cup hopefuls have gathered in Wellington for a so-called foundation day, as Hansen plots New Zealand’s World Cup title defence.

He told media a lot of what would happen today would be educational, as opposed to physical.

"It allows us to come into camp pre-Argentina and get straight into work," he said of the team's first Test in Buenos Aires in July.

He refused to elaborate on exactly what they were working on, however.

"There is no point us telling you because then you’ll go and tell the world and they’ve got a head start. No."

He did say it was a chance to reflect on what they had learnt last year and during this year’s Super Rugby season, and so medical staff could have a look the players.
