Hurricanes star hooker Dane Coles didn't skip a beat, making an impressive return to Super Rugby last night, helping his side to 35-16 win against the Brumbies in their Super Rugby playoff match in Canberra last night.
Coles has been out of rugby action with a concussion and knee problem since March, but he made his presence felt immediately when he entered the game in the 51st minute.
"My lungs were hissing a bit, but I was just trying to go at it and have a bit of fun and enjoy it," said Coles.
He set up a try late in the game beating several defenders with his raw speed before offloading to his teammate TJ Perenara to score in the 69th minute.
Coles said he was just glad to be out on the paddock playing rugby again.
"It's been a long time watching footy, awesome to be back and out on the field for the boys," he said.
"Really sore today, it's a good sign that I got through a bit of work."
The Hurricanes are through to the Super Rugby semi-finals and will play the winner out of the Lions and the Sharks.
"Maybe this has galvanised them, hearing each other's stories and knowing they are not alone," say the nurses behind the Facebook group, New Zealand, please hear our voice.
