Ma’a Nonu 'hasn't thought about stopping' with another Super Rugby season kicking off soon

February 12, 2019

The 36-year old is in preparation for his third stint with the Blues.

At the tender age of 36 years young, Blues star Ma'a Nonu has given no thought to retirement from rugby.

Nonu, 36, has returned to New Zealand and the Blues, having plied his trade with French side Toulon since 2016.

Speaking to media today about what made him return home, Nonu said he couldn't resist one more crack at Super Rugby.

"[I] had a great time in France, I guess the opportunity to come and play for the Blues, I took it with both hands really," Nonu said.

Quizzed on whether or not he was thinking about giving the game away, Nonu is eager to prove that he still has what it takes to play Super Rugby.

"I haven't thought about stopping.

"Hopefully I can still play at this level, that's a challenge I'm looking forward to.

"I've been out of the country for three years. A lot of the young players, a lot of great players playing.

"[I'm] stoked to be running around."

Nonu will hope to be selected for the Blues' Super Rugby season opener, taking on the defending champion Crusaders at Eden Park on Saturday.
