Brodie Retallick scores a try for the All Blacks against the Wallabies.

Brodie Retallick has fended off rumours he is engaged in contract talks with an English club for after this year's Rugby World Cup.

A report surfaced yesterday that the All Blacks lock has been approached by English Premiership club Sale with a NZ$1.9 million deal with Retallick off contract at the end of the year.

However, the 27-year-old has quickly shut down the rumours in a post on social media.

"No one thought to ask but no I'm not going to be playing for Sale ... not that I know off [sic] anyway," he said.

Retallick has played 73 Tests for the All Blacks and is set to make his 100th Super Rugby appearance for the Chiefs later this year, with 94 to his name already.

Retallick was the latest to have his name tied to an offshore move - with the likes of captain Kieran Read, midfielder Ryan Crotty and more also linked to offers as well.

The Hawke's Bay lock is considered one of the best at his position in the world, having won the World Rugby Player of the Year award in 2014 before being a significant part of the All Blacks' winning campaign at the 2015 World Cup.
