England winger Joe Cokanasiga says he's uncomfortable with comparisons to All Blacks legend Johan Lomu, having burst onto the scene during the recent European international window.
Having just turned 21, Cokanasiga has scored two tries in his first two Tests, against Australia and Japan respectively, showing off an impressive combination of power and pace reminiscent of the great Lomu.
In terms of physical stats though, it's hard to deny a comparison between the two, with Cokanasiga standing at 1.93cm tall and 118kg, while Lomu was 1.96m and 120kg at the same stage in his career.
However, when asked by The Times about the idea of living up to his idol Lomu, Cokanasiga was quick to shoot down any comparisons.
"Lomu was one of the greatest players of the game and I'm definitely nowhere near that," he said.
"You can't do what he did, the way he manhandled people, because lots of wings are bigger than me now."
Cokanasiga's England coach Eddie Jonesto weighed in on the comparisons, saying they'll mean nothing, unless he can have the same devastating impact on games that Lomu did in his prime.
"I tell you what Lomu did," Jones said. "He nearly won a World Cup for New Zealand.
"When Joe nearly wins a World Cup for us he won't be good enough because he has to win a World Cup for us."
