'I'm absolutely loving it' – Aaron Mauger relishing life as Highlanders boss

February 3, 2018

New Highlanders coach Aaron Mauger is loving life in his new role, as his side completed a 55-29 pre-season win over the Waratahs in Queenstown last night.

Mauger, 37, takes the reigns of the Dunedin side for the 2018 season, replacing Tony Brown at the helm of the Highlanders.

Speaking to 1 NEWS after his side's first hit-out of 2018, Mauger spoke about his short time in charge of the Highlanders.

"I'm absolutely loving it," he said.

"It's a great bunch of guys to work with, I've got a very committed group, not just players but staff as well."

"It's been very enjoyable, we work hard but we get the balance right and make sure we enjoy the journey as well."
