Hurricanes prevail in see-sawing match against Stormers in Wellington

TRY! The Hurricanes lose the ball at line-out time but Ardie Savea regathers it. He goes on a rampaging run into the Stormers 22, his run gets the Hurricanes on the front foot.

The Barrett brothers connect with Jordie running an excellent line off Beauden to get over the advantage. And it is Beauden who finishes off the play as he backs himself to go all the way, grounding the ball over the try-line with two Stormers defenders on him.

TRY! Jordie Barrett delivers a brilliant long ball pass to Wes Goosen, but the right winger has a lot of work to do. He moves the ball into his right hand and fends off his opposite before diving over to score in the right hand corner. The referee again needs help from the TMO, replays show the Goosen was in-field as he grounded the ball.

TRY! Stormers reserve flanker Jaco Coetzee makes a very strong carry and manages to ground the ball on the try-line with two Canes defenders on him. The ref goes upstairs and the TMO gives him the green light to award the try.

TRY! There is acres of space on the right edge and Chase Tiatia manages to beat the first defender before giving the ball to winger Wes Goosen. He has only one defender to beat and he beats him with speed and dives over to score for the home team.

TRY! The Stormers' gamble pays off as the rumble over to score after a clever well-worked line-out maul. Hooker Bongi Mbonambi comes up with the ball and that is the Stormers' second try of the match.

YELLOW CARD! Vaea Fifita has been sent to the bin for a dangerous tackle and the Stormers turn down a shot at goal. They kick the ball into touch and will be looking for another five-pointer just before the break.

TRY! The Stormers set up a well worked line-out deep inside the Hurricanes 22 and their skipper Siya Kolisi powers his way over to score the first five-pointer for the visitors, with just 14-men on the field.

TRY! Hurricanes halfback Richard Judd gets the ball at the back of the scrum and puts in a smart grubber into the Stormers' in-goal. Jordie Barrett gets the ball first and that is his first try of the 2019 season for the Canes.

YELLOW CARD! Stomers first-five Jean-Luc du Plessis has been sent to the bin for not rolling away in the tackle. Things looked promising for the Canes on attack. with du Plessis penalised five metres out of his own goal-line.

THREE! Beauden Barrett steps up and lands a handy penalty kick from easy range. The Hurricanes now have a four-point lead.

NO TRY! There is acres of space in behind the Stormers defensive line and Beauden Barrett puts a grubber kick in. Ben Lam gets to the ball first but he fumbles it in the in-goal.

TRY! The Hurricanes steal a line-out throw by the Stormers deep inside the visitors' 22. And they charge up field. Some big powerful carries by the Hurricanes forwards and it is prop Ben May who powers over to score the first try of the match, with a little help from his teammate Ardie Savea driving in behind him.

THREE! The Stormers rumble 10m upfield into the Hurricanes' 22 and the home team is penalised for an offside play. Stormers' winger SP Marais has a kick at goal right in front of the goal posts and he nails it. The visitors lead 6-0.

THREE! Hurricanes hooker Ricky Riccitelli is penalised for not rolling away in a tackle and Stomers' SP Marais lands his first penalty kick at goal from easy range. The Stormers lead 3-0.

KICK-OFF! The Stormers get things started with a towering kick which lands just outside the Hurricanes' 22m line.

The Hurricanes are without three of their All Blacks stars with TJ Perenara, Dane Coles and Ngani Laumape beingn rested for tonight's clash.

Beauden Barrett will skipper the Hurricanes with his brother Jordie named at second-five after a number of midfield options went down with injuries.

The Stormers and the Hurricanes both have three wins so far this season with the 'Canes having played one extra game.

Richard Judd has been named to start at halfback with Ricky Riccitelli replacing Coles as starting hooker.

In their last outing, the Hurricanes drew with the Chiefs 23-23 in Hamilton last Friday.

The Hurricanes have a proud record at home, winning 24 of their last 25 Super Rugby matches at home.

The last time they lost at home to a South African team was against the Stormers in 2013.
