Hurricanes star Beauden Barrett admitted he's not surprised to see the return of his halves partner TJ Perenara so soon after he injured his knee last month for this Friday's Super Rugby clash against the Blues.
Perenara, 26, hasn't played Super Rugby for the Canes since April 6 when the Hurricanes edged the Sharks 38-37.
Barrett said the No. 9 live wire has been itching to get back on the rugby field.
"I can tell you that he's really excited, if there is one guy who can almost halve the recovery time it's TJ Perenara," said Barrett.
"He's a hundy, he's one of the most enthusiastic, hardest worker I know and I'm not surprised that he is back here so soon.
"It will be great to see him out there."
The Hurricanes could add further misery to the Blues' 2018 season with the Auckland franchise yet to win a match Eden Park this year.
The Canes sit second in the New Zealand Super Rugby conference ladder and are two points behind the defending champions the Crusaders who sit on top.
