'He's a class player' – Steve Hansen praises Beauden Barrett for try saving tackle

November 19, 2017

The All Blacks’ first-five’s late effort secured the 22-17 win over Scotland.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has described the moment first-five Beauden Barrett secured his side's 22-17 victory over Scotland this morning, making a last ditch tackle before fulltime.

As Scotland fullback Stuart Hogg broke through the All Blacks' line, only Barrett prevented the try that could have condemned New Zealand to their first ever Test loss to their hosts.

Speaking at today's media conference after the match, Hansen was full of praise for his star man.

"I thought hopefully someone's gonna tackle him (Hogg)," Hansen said.

"He's a class player, Beauden."

"He's done that before... he's good at that."

"It took a special player to stop a special player."
