'He didn't panic' - All Blacks coaches rave over Richie Mo'unga's heroics

October 7, 2018

Mo'unga turned the match to earn a 32-30 win over South Africa in Pretoria.

All Blacks assistant coach Ian Foster praised the impact of young first-five Richie Mo'unga, after he kicked the winning goal to seal a 32-30 win over South Africa in Pretoria this morning.

Coming off the bench in the second half, Mo'unga proved to be the All Blacks' saviour, first peeling off 70 metres with a punt from a penalty to put the All Blacks just five metres out, before slotting a conversion after the final whistle to steal the win.

Speaking at the post match press conference, the All Blacks' coaching team were full of credit for Mo'unga's display.

"He'll obviously love the moment and of kicking a winning goal," Foster began.

"The fact that he was part of a group that came off the bench and showed a lot of energy, and made some smart decisions too.

"He didn't panic with some of the penalties we got in the last 10 (minutes).

"Overall, it's just another experience he can bank away, but again, he's added value when he's come on."
