He's been out of a job for two hours but already Israel Dagg is out hunting a new career after hanging up his rugby boots for good - and he's not afraid to use his retirement announcement to find one.
Dagg spoke to reporters this morning about ending his rugby career at 30 but when he was asked what he plans to do next by one journalist, he seized his opportunity to transition to reporting.
"You got a job for me?"
Dagg had reporters in stitches with his cheeky response to the "million dollar question" before admitting he would be keen to look into a career in media.
"I'm pretty passionate about talking and doing a bit of TV and doing some radio - something I'd be pretty keen to get into," he said.
He added he'll be getting some early practice in when he joins the pre-match television coverage for tonight's Super Rugby match between the Highlanders and Hurricanes in Dunedin.
When asked if he would look at a career in coaching, he wasn't as keen.
"I want to step away from the game for a bit and test my brain.
"I just want to try something else, whatever it is - I'm sure now that I've announced this some doors will open up and things will fall into place."
