Former Rebels and now Chiefs first-five Jack Debreczeni is warning his teammates to expect hostility when they travel to Melbourne for Friday night's crucial Super Rugby encounter.
With the Rebels currently occupying eighth place on the Super Rugby ladder, a victory on Friday night could see the Chiefs leapfrog the Melbourne side and claim a playoff spot.
With 26-year old Debreczeni having spent five seasons with the Rebels, the first-five is anticipating a heated clash with his former side, expecting everything to be against the Chiefs at AAMI Park.
"They're passionate for their team," he said.
"I'm sure they'll be very one sided in terms of the abuse you get. They're passionate fans. They've got good fans, loyal fans.
"I'm sure it'll be a hostile environment."
However, with away wins over the likes of the Bulls and Jaguares already this season, Debreczeni is confident that a similar outcome can be achieved in Melbourne.
"We've gone to some pretty hard places and come away with wins this year.
"Pretoria is a tough place to play, Argentina is a tough place to play. Melbourne presents it's own trouble. It's a hostile crowd, the weather's a bit cold there - similar to here.
"It'll be a tough destination to go and play against a good team."
The Chiefs travel to face the Rebels on Friday night NZT.
