Fans vent frustrations at Spark Sport's glitchy RWC streaming of All Blacks v Canada

October 3, 2019

Spark Sport's feeling the heat once again with some customers complaining about glitchy coverage during last night's All Blacks' Rugby World Cup match.

People around the country have taken to social media to air their frustrations over pixelation, delays, frozen screens and even a humming sound.

The Commerce Commission has told 1 NEWS it has now received more than 30 complaints about Spark’s streaming.

One viewer wrote on Twitter, "honestly not good enough, if there was any other coverage I would cancel my pass, what waste of money for s*** coverage just constant issues".

"The picture quality is sub par to other games," another viewer took to Twitter to write, "Watchable but more like a piracy stream."

Other viewers took to Twitter to label viewing the game "incredibly painful", "frustrating" and describes the vision as "slow motion".

The streaming service also reported issues in the All Black's first match of the tournament and more recently in the Wallabies vs Wales game.

Spark's corporate relations manager Elle Dorset told 1 NEWS in a written statement this morning a "modest" number of customers received support for device and set up issues.

Ms Dorset said both the France vs USA and New Zealand vs Canada games streamed successfully last night, and that Spark's key performance measures tracked well with the majority of customers having no issues.

"All technical aspects of the streaming platform worked well, as did the New Zealand broadband network, with no known broadband network congestion or outage concerns."

Spark asked customers with any issues to get in touch via ‪help.sparksport.co.nz well in advance of the next match they wish to watch.
