Former Hurricanes and Maori All Blacks forward Blade Thomson could be the latest Kiwi to ply his trade with a European side, admitting his desire to represent Scotland at Test level.

Thomson, 27, left the capital at the end of the last Super Rugby season, joining Welsh side Scarlets, however - thanks to his grandparents - the versatile loose forward could receive a call up to play for Gregor Townsend's Scottish side.

Appearing on BBC Wales, Thomson spoke about the prospect of playing Test rugby, adding that his Scarlets club remained a priority.

"(I'm) lying if I said I hadn't thought about it," Thomson said.

"But, to be honest, this (Scarlets) is my job first and foremost.

"If it happens, it happens. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I suppose."

Thomson made six appearances for the Maori All Blacks, before linking up with Scarlets ahead of the current European season.
