'Everyone's saying gidday' - All Blacks loving Nelson ahead of their debut Test in the city

September 3, 2018

Trafalgar Park will host Nelson's first Test match involving the All Blacks when they play Argentina on Saturday.

Nelson has accepted the All Blacks with open arms, after the Rugby World Cup champions arrived for this week's Test against Argentina at Trafalgar Park.

Despite Nelson having hosted Test rugby during the 2011 World Cup, Saturday's Rugby Championship encounter against Argentina will see the All Blacks take the field at Trafalgar Park for the very first time.

Speaking to media this afternoon, lock Brodie Retallick said that the side are so far enjoying their time in Nelson.

"We're pretty lucky to play in the big cities quite often throughout New Zealand, but to come to Nelson - when you arrive at the airport everyone's saying gidday to you," he said.

"Everyone's excited to have the All Blacks here, and Test match rugby in Nelson.

"It's great, you go for a wander down the street and see some of the heritage of the town.

"It's great to see people excited about rugby being in their town."
