He paid a heartfelt tribute to his late grandfather shortly after the win, and Beauden Barrett hopes his grandfather Ted was proud of last night's performance.
Barrett had a strong outing for the All Blacks in last night's 46-14 quarter-final win over Ireland but the build-up to the Test was tough for him, his brothers and family following the death of Edward Michael Barrett last week. He was 78.
Barrett told 1 NEWS the last few days weren't easy.
"It's been a very difficult week for us," Barrett told 1 NEWS.
"It was good that dad could be here in the stands. All we could do is play good for granddad.
"Hopefully, he's proud."
Barrett was named man-of-the-match though with an impressive stat line which included 69 metres gained, three clean breaks, three defenders beaten and a try.
