Dylan Mika Flashback: Good mate Dylan Mika carries Jonah Lomu's coffin as resounding haka rings out around Eden Park

March 21, 2018

The haka was performed on the field of Eden Park at the conclusion of Jonah Lomu's public memorial.

Poignant memories of Dylan Mika are being shared on social media today after the seven match All Black died suddenly of a heart attack yesterday , aged just 45.

Among the most poignant public images of Mika was the scene of him carrying good mate Jonah Lomu's casket onto Eden Park, during Lomu's public memorial service in 2015.

The Pacific Island pair played for Auckland and the All Blacks together for close to a decade together, including at the 1999 Rugby World Cup in England, and were close friends off the field.

The seven Test veteran died of a heart attack last night.

Mika, along with All Blacks great Sir Michael Jones and John Hart, played a close role in comforting Nadine Lomu in the immediate aftermath of Lomu's death, and in organising funeral details.

Tributes for Mika have poured in from the rugby community both in New Zealand and abroad, today, after his sudden passing.
