'Don't stop showing your support' - Sonny Bill Williams heading to Christchurch to support Muslim community

March 18, 2019

Sonny Bill Williams says that he'll be travelling to Christchurch, providing help and support for those killed in Friday's terror attacks on two mosques.

A proud Muslim, Williams was visibly affected by Friday's atrocities, posting an emotional video hours after the shootings which have claimed 50 lives, with dozens more injured.

Taking to Twitter, Williams thanked those who've shown support for the victims and their families after the attacks.

"Thank you everyone for your kind hearts," Williams wrote.

"We will be in Christchurch later in the week to show love and give donations to the Christchurch Masjids for the people effected in this tragedy.

"My heart is heavy, please don't stop showing your support."

Williams won't be available for the Blues' upcoming Super Rugby clash with the Highlanders, given the week off by his side to give support in Christchurch.

A 28-year old Australian man is in police custody and has been charged with murder following the shootings at two separate mosques.
