Dane Coles expects Wallabies to flourish under Dave Rennie

September 29, 2020

"Every team Rennie has touched has been successful," the hooker said.

All Blacks veteran Dane Coles says you simply need to look at new Wallabies coach Dave Rennie's history to know the Australian team is going to find success.

Coles and the All Blacks are preparing to play the Wallabies next Sunday in what will be Rennie's first match in charge of the team, after taking over from Michael Cheika.

The All Blacks are expecting a well-polished outfit, according to Coles.

"Rennie's a great coach," Coles said.

"Every team he has touched has been successful."

Rennie made a name for himself when he took over the New Zealand under-20s team, also known as the Baby Blacks, and led them to three consecutive world titles from 2008 to 2010.

He then went on to join the Chiefs in 2012 and in his first season, led them to their first Super Rugby title, becoming the first rookie coach to do so. He backed that up the following year with a second-straight title.

He then went on to add to his portfolio by moving to the UK, where he took over the Glasgow Warriors in 2016 and eventually led them to one final appearance, before joining the Wallabies this year.

"We've just got to meet that challenge," Coles said.

"But they'll be fizzed up."
