Crusaders assistant backs David Havili to return to All Blacks - 'He's bashing the door down'

Crusaders assistant coach Brad Mooar is backing David Havili to return in the All Blacks squad, but maybe in a different role.

With Damian McKenzie ruled out for the remainder of the year due to a serious knee injury, Mooar believes Havili could be a fill-in first-five despite not playing at 10 at top level.

"He's been in the group [All Blacks] in the past, he's bashing the door down to be noticed," said Mooar.

"I think he is leading the competition or is right up there in terms of defenders beaten and he's playing very strongly for us."

Havili has played three Tests for the All Blacks, making his debut in October 2017 against Argentina.
