Christchurch Heroes Sports Trust has spoken out against Wallabies star Israel Folau’s latest controversial social media post, saying the cross-code star needs to be axed by Rugby Australia.

Folau posted on his Instagram account last night that "drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters" have hell awaiting them unless they repent.

Christchurch Heroes Sports Trust is an all-inclusive LGBTI+ rugby team, with their co-chair Rāwā Karetai slamming Folau for his insensitive remarks.

"It is time to call for the removal of Israel Folau as an ambassador and player of rugby," said Karetai in a statement.

"This is not just an attack on the LGBTI+ community; this is an attack on most of society. I would argue that Folau has now crossed over into hate speech."

Folau says hell awaits drunks, homosexuals, fornicators and others.

Folau faced heavy criticism last year in April after he posted on his Instagram account that homosexuals were destined for "HELL... Unless they repent of their sins and turn to God."

Karetai said Folau has obviously no remorse for his actions.

"This is round two, now. Folau should have learnt the lesson a year ago and has not. He is a repeat offender who needs to be dealt with swiftly, and Rugby Australia should not let this carry on," Karetai said.
