The Chiefs are thrilled to welcome back Brodie Retallick for this weekend's crucial Super Rugby encounter away to the Melbourne Rebels, with the All Blacks lock having missed the last eight weeks.
Absent for two months with an injured wrist, Retallick will return to the Chiefs' starting side this weekend - with the side needing a win at the very least to book their spot in the Super Rugby playoffs.
Speaking to media in Hamilton, first-five Jack Debreczeni said that Retallick's return is the ideal boost for the Chiefs with their season on the line.
"Having a world class player like him back, the physicality and aggression he brings to his game, it's good to have him back around running on the field," he said.
Debreczeni continued by saying that Retallick's return will also be a lift to the other members of the Chiefs' side, lifting the standards among the playing group.
"He brings such a wealth of knowledge and experience, especially around lineout time, coming up against a good Rebels pack who have a good lineout. Having him there should help us with hopefully getting good lineout delivery.
"Just around the field, his workrate is incredible just around the field. I don't know how he plays lock. He seems to be everywhere on the field - in the backline, out wide running and scoring tries.
"To have him back is a big bonus."
The Chiefs travel to face the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday night.
