Bulls prop Conraad van Vuuren is facing a suspension from Super Rugby after he was picked up by the citing commisioner for his dangerous tackle on Chiefs first-five Damian McKenzie.
In the 68th minute of the Chiefs' 41-28 win over the Bulls in Hamilton last night, McKenzie was falling towards the ground while releasing a pass to Anton Lienert-Brown when van Vuuren took out McKenzie with his arm, swinging it dangerously at his head and barely avoiding serious contact.
Match referee Shuhei Kubo sent the substitute front-rower to the bin with a yellow card as a result - despite initially contemplating whether he should hand out a red card with the TMO when he first looked at the incident.
The TMO showed Kubo the incident again and appeared to advise the incident wasn't worth of a red card, however the citing commisioner disagrees.
The South African has been cited for alleged foul play, contravening Law 9.13, which states a player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.
Van Vuuren's case will be considered tomorrow by the SANZAAR Foul Play Review committee.
