Brodie Retallick's shoulder 'all good' after physical clash with Ireland

October 20, 2019

Despite the limited game time before last night's quarter-final, Retallick believes his shoulder is back to normal.

Despite having just 30 minutes of playing time under his belt since returning from a dislocated shoulder, All Black Brodie Retallick said he got through last night's physical quarter-final with Ireland just fine.

"It was all good," Retallick told 1 NEWS.

"The shoulder's good, it's nice and strong."

Retallick missed the All Blacks' opening two matches of the Rugby World Cup as he finished recovering from the shoulder injury sustained in the Rugby Championship back in July.

He then made his return against minnows Namibia in pool play but was restricted to 30 minutes to not risk anything with a plan to give him more game time in the All Blacks' final pool match against Italy.

But that match was cancelled due to Typhoon Hagibis, meaning Retallick entered last night's do-or-die game with limited match fitness.

But the 28-year-old wasn't fazed.

"It was awesome. This end of the tournament is exactly where we want to be."

Retallick got 55 minutes in last night's 46-14 win over Ireland before he made his way to the bench.

Now his attention, as well as the team's, is switching to another big challenge in England for next week's semi-final.

"We'll use tomorrow to recover and chill out a bit and then start looking at England and start the week over again."
