Brodie Retallick's return hailed by Sam Cane: 'He owns that role'

The return of All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick has been hailed by teammate Sam Cane, with the side now preparing for a Rugby World Cup semi-final against England.

After a shoulder injury suffered against South Africa in Wellington back in July, Retallick was initially feared to be a risk of missing the World Cup altogether.

However, the bruising lock returned in time for the All Blacks' pool match against Namibia before playing a key role in last weekend's 46-14 quarter-final victory over Ireland.

Speaking to media today, Cane told reporters that Retallick's return was a welcome one for the All Blacks.

"It was good to have him back," Cane said.

"Incredible really, to go 60 minutes like that after only 30 minutes against Namibia.

"He dominates the middle of the park, he owns that role and executed really well.

"[He] sees pictures clearly, can take the ball to the line, put others in space.

"Without swelling his head, it was really good to have him out there."
