Blues in the dark over Sonny Bill Williams logo cover up

The Blues say they don't know why Sonny Bill Williams covered up a sponsor's logo on his Super Rugby jersey in last night’s loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin.

Williams ran on to the field in the 55th minute, making his Blues debut with an eye catching run.

But, the majority of post-match comment has surrounded the covering up of a BNZ logo on his jersey collar.

New Zealand Rugby has confirmed to 1 NEWS, Williams has the right, as per his individual contract to object to endorsing certain team sponsors, including banks, finance companies, gambling outlets and alcohol companies.

However, the Blues, in a statement provided to 1 NEWS say they don't know why the jersey was altered and will be discussing this with Sonny Bill Williams' agent this week.

Interestingly, Williams did not hide the BNZ logo on the Blues' training top during the week.
