Blues 'coming in with confidence' into Super Rugby Aotearoa

May 20, 2020

The Auckland side won their last four matches, before the Covid-19 sporting shutdown.

The Blues are confident that they'll carry their pre-Covid-19 form into the new Super Rugby Aotearoa competition against the Hurricanes on June 14.

Before the Super Rugby calendar was disrupted by the global outbreak of the coronavirus, the Blues found themselves as one of the form teams in the competition - sitting fourth on the overall ladder, and second to the Crusaders in the New Zealand conference.

What's more, the Blues had put together a run of four consecutive wins, including three away from home to the Bulls, Stormers, and Hurricanes.

However, those results now count for nothing, the Blues having to start from scratch in a competition consisting of the five Kiwi sides.

Speaking via Zoom today though, senior player James Parsons says that everything is in place for the Blues to continue their run of form into the new competition.

"That momentum's built around hard work," Parsons said.

"It's just going back to that, working hard during the week, getting our preparation right, our mindset right.

"Coming in with some confidence is great, rather than in past years there's always talk of us not doing too well.

"The reality is we had a good meeting yesterday. There's no substitute for hard work and preparation.

"I think that's what will be the cornerstone of all five clubs heading into this competition."
