Black Ferns captain Fiao'o Fa'amausili confirms retirement after loss to France

Fiao'o Fa'amausili says that the Black Ferns are excited for their final against England, despite the harsh scheduling.

Black Ferns captain Fiao'o Fa'amausili has announced her retirement from rugby, following her side's 30-27 loss to France in Grenoble this morning.

Having come out of retirement earlier this year, the 38-year old has again decided to hang up her boots, after a glittering career in the black jersey.

"Rugby has been a big part of my life and it still will be but I just won't be taking the field alongside the girls," she said.

"I've played my part in helping, progressing and nuturing players and so now I need some 'me time'.

"It was very very emotional. Just looking at the girls doing the haka at the same time with tears is pretty emotional but I am so proud of them. We are one big family and when one person cries everyone cries."

Fa'amausili is joined by loose forward Linda Itunu, who has also called time on her career following this morning's loss.
