Ardie Savea joins rugby stars in support of brother Julian against Toulon owner

February 18, 2019
Ardie and Julian Savea aren't getting carried away with all the talk of playing the British touring side.

All Black Ardie Savea is leading a chorus of those in support for older brother Julian, following public criticism from Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal.

An often controversial figure within French rugby, 58-year old Boudjellal this morning took aim at the former All Blacks winger, saying he's free to leave the lucrative French club and return home.

Taking to Twitter, former Wallabies and Toulon winger Drew Mitchell was among the first to come to Savea's aid, writing:

"This type of carry-on won't exactly entice other players to play for Toulon.

"Business or not, you just don't treat ppl [people] like this."

Savea's younger brother, Ardie, echoed Mitchell's sentiments, retweeting with the comment, "F****** amen."

Former France lock Sebastian Chabal also pointed the finger at Boudjellal's antics, saying that the owner was responsible for the problems at Toulon.

"I think the principal problem at this club is the president... There is no stability," Chabal told Canal Rugby Club.

Another former Toulon star spoke out against Boudjellal, with ex-Blues and Samoa halfback Tino Junior Poluleuligga tweeting:

"Not surprised.

"In 2008 he spoke to us in the changing rm [room] after a captains run & threatened to cut all our contracts if we didn't win that game to gain automatic promo to Top 14."

Savea himself has vowed to stay at Toulon in the wake of Boudjellal's comments.
