Anika Moa mocks Israel Folau in brutal social media skit - 'He's the perfect leader'

April 12, 2019

Kiwi musician and funnywoman Anika Moa has ripped into Israel Folau over his recent controversial social media post, mocking the Wallabies star on her Instagram story.

Moa portrayed her character Dove Love in a skit where she talked about Folau and his strong religious beliefs after the Aussie athlete said "drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters" must repent or hell awaits them .

"Hi, guys, Dove Love here," Moa starts off.

"OMG, we've just found the perfect replacement for our pastor who has just recently passed away. His name is Israel Folau.

"You may have heard of him, he's on this Instagram platform that you get your message across.

"He seriously posts the most greatest things. Our values are aligned. So what I did was I rang Israel Folau. I was like, 'could you be our new leader?' You know what he said?

"He said 'No!'. I said, 'oh God, please'.

"So I got down on my knees and asked God why? He is the perfect leader, he has all the same values that we have. And do you know what God said?

Matty McLean says Folau has to face repercussions like anyone else but Jack Tame wonders if he did it on purpose.

"This is a humdinger. He said 'Dove Love, why would want to align yourself with such a f***ing t**ty c***?'"

Moa is one of several Kiwis to call out Folau, with Nehe Milner-Skudder , Marama Davidson and Hilary Barry also challenging his use of social media.

There's also been backlash in Australia with Wallabies greats Tim Horan and Stirling Mortlock saying the 30-year-old has forced Rugby Australia to take serious action.

Rugby Australia has also released a statement condemning the Wallabies superstar and devout Christian.

Folau's contract with Rugby Australia is set to be torn up after CEO Raelene Castles said last night their attempts to reach him had failed.
