All Blacks skipper Kieran Read returns to the starting XV to face the Springboks in Sunday's Rugby Championship Test match in Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

The All Blacks have made four changes to their starting line-up that beat Argentina last week in Buenos Aires 35-17.

Jack Goodhue will partner Sonny Bill Williams in the midfield, with Ryan Crotty named on the bench.

Aaron Smith replaces TJ Perenara in the No. 9 jersey.

In the forwards Read returns to number eight with Owen Franks named at tighthead, which pushes Ofa Tu'ungafasi to the bench.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects another tough challenge from the Springboks, after they handed his men in black a 36-34 upset in Wellington three weeks ago.

"Test matches between the All Blacks and Springboks are always intense and dramatic contests, and we expect this weekend will be no different," said Hansen.

"Nothing changes for us. It’s a Test match that everyone in New Zealand expects us to win.

"The fact that it's an All Blacks-Springboks Test match makes it even more exciting and it's one that we're really looking forward to.

"South Africa are playing with a lot of confidence and after their two recent wins, their confidence levels will be even higher. So we'll need to respond with real purpose, composure, belief and intensity."
