All Blacks great Ma'a Nonu finishes off brilliant long range Blues play against Hurricanes in pre-season clash

February 9, 2019

Nonu, 36, didn't miss a beat for the Blues as they edged the Hurricanes 38-31 in Mangatainoka.

All Blacks great Ma'a Nonu has showed he's still got it in the Blues' preseason clash against the Hurricanes this afternoon at Mangatainoka.

The Blues outmuscled their New Zealand counterparts 38-31.

Nonu, 36, wound back the clock, finishing off a superb play for the Auckland Super Rugby franchise.

Replacement halfback Jonathan Ruru began the play inside his own half, with a sneaky dart from the back of a ruck before offloading the ball to rampaging loose forward Matt Mitch.

Mitch threw a clever inside ball to Nonu, who stepped and weaved around the Hurricanes' winger before putting his foot down to score under the posts.

The Blues kick start their Super Rugby campaign against defending champions the Crusaders next Saturday at Eden Park in Auckland.
