All Blacks feel Pumas were perfect warm-up for clash with Boks – 'Both run hard'

September 10, 2018

Scott Barrett says the two squads have a similar make-up and game plan.

After a bruising affair in Nelson against Argentina, the All Blacks are gearing up for much of the same this week in their Rugby Championship clash with South Africa.

That's the view of lock Scott Barrett who said today the Pumas' physical forwards and explosive back line are something the team is expecting this weekend when the Springboks come to town.

"Both teams, they're pretty direct," he said.

"They run hard, straight. They've got some big men who want to get over the gain line and get quick ball for their drivers.

"They'll be looking for the same direct route."

The All Blacks fended off a valiant performance by the Pumas at Trafalgar Park to earn a 46-24 win on Saturday to notch their third win over the Rugby Championship.

The Springboks however head to Wellington for Saturday night's match on the back of two losses.

Prior to Saturday's 23-18 loss to the Wallabies in Brisbane, The South Africans were stunned in Mendoza by the Pumas 32-19.
